About WanPlace

WanPlace is a small Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and operated business set up to provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment and Business Services in one place.

Torres Strait Head Dress Blue

My name is Maria Dugan and I am a proud Islander woman with connection to land and sea from Sai Bai Island in the Torres Straits to Papua New Guinea.

I have worked in Human Resources sector in Victoria for over 10 years and when I first started, there was very limited access and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the workforce. Significant changes in the workforce have taken place and over the years government, private and community institutions have acknowledged this gap.

I have set this business (WanPlace) up to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people better access to job opportunities, the ability to connect with community through news and events and have access to training.

WanPlace also helps Australian businesses to access Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services and work in partnerships to help build positive outcomes for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
