Executive Director – Full Time (negotiable)

  • Strategic and operational leadership role reporting to the Chair
  • Join a progressive, innovative and empowering organisation
  • Support the development of Aboriginal leaders in Victoria

The Fellowship for Indigenous Leadership (FIL) was established in 2003 as a vehicle for positive change in Victoria’s Aboriginal communities. The formula is, and has been, a successful model of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people working together, building partnerships and promoting a positive, celebratory model.

The Fellowship invests in recognised leaders and provides opportunities to emerging leaders within Victoria’s Indigenous communities. The value of the investment in building Indigenous leadership is to improve the economic as well as the social and emotional wellbeing of communities.

The Role:

FIL is seeking to appoint a new Executive Director who will report to the Chair of the Advisory Committee who will continue the great work that has been put in place and take the work to the next level of impact.  You will work closely with the Advisory Committee to develop innovative strategies to grow the impact of FIL and its Alumni as well as supporting new and emerging leaders. Ideally the Advisory Committee would like to appoint a person of First Nations background.

As Executive Director, you will help ensure that FIL is continually working to meet its strategic objectives whilst managing day-to-day operations of the organisation. Your passion and determination to improve outcomes for Indigenous communities in Victoria will be supported by a sound and demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the key cultural, historical, social and economic issues that are impacting on contemporary Indigenous communities.

You will be in possession of high-level interpersonal, networking and influencing skills. You will have the ability to work independently and have strong operational capabilities. Experience working with and in Indigenous communities and with senior Indigenous leaders is very important.

Relevant tertiary qualifications would be highly desirable.

An attractive salary will be offered to the successful candidate.
