Test Specialist (Automation) – Full Time

The Test Specialist/Analyst is responsible for developing test requirements and test cases as well as the execution of the tests together with identifying and resolving software defects prior to software implementation.

  • Develop testing scripts and scenarios based on the testing plan and follow standard procedures and templates to ensure product testing is comprehensive
  • Execution of test cases, check and document results to ensure the system’s technical and functional requirements are met
  • Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures to ensure information retention and re-use
  • Contribute to testing of any actions taken to rectify users’ problems to ensure user and system requirements are met and that changes integrate with the production system
  • Contribute to the provision of documentation and advice regarding applications to enable support functions to work pro-actively
  • Maintain test environments and deploy new versions as required
  • Maintain documentation for regression testing

  • Be eligible to obtain an AGSVA baseline security clearance or already have AGSVA baseline security clearance

Mandatory candidate requirements:

  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Been resident in Australia for the past 5 years (i.e., can’t have moved to Australia only 4 or 4.5 years ago)
  • Not spent greater than 12 months cumulative out of Australia during the past 5 years
  • Satisfy an AU Gov client Pre-Engagement Integrity Check
  • Be eligible to obtain an AGSVA baseline security clearance or already have AGSVA baseline security clearance

Desired attributes and skills:

  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Prior experience in using software testing tools
  • The ability to understand and assimilate different points of view
  • A love of working with people in a team-focused environment
  • Prior exposure or willingness to learn AGILE methodologies
  • The willingness to take ownership of challenging tasks, even beyond your initial scope of responsibility
  • The ability to collaborate with team members remotely or face to face
  • Openness to sharing ideas and accepting other team members’ feedbace

Education and Experience:

  • You will be degree qualified, have 2 years of experience in a Testing Role
  • Demonstrate experience in writing and executing test scripts
  • Experience using test tools (i.e. SOAP UI, Rational Test products, etc)
  • Experience in automation testing is preferred but not mandatory

The successful applicant must be an Australian citizen and must be eligible to obtain a higher AGSVA security clearance due to the nature of client work.
